The world in amber
- studying the world independent of time.
Under construction - it will come online in late autumn
The first focus will be on inclusions in Baltic amber

Ever since I was little I've believed that it was not possible to look back in time, but amber serves as the window into a vanished world - a second as forever frozen in time. It provides a wider perspective on our lives, the earth and the evolution of life. This world in amber will now, through this image database be opened up for you and brought back to life.
There are a myriad of images of inclusions on the net, private hard drives and in different museum databases - few have an overview of this material and very little is available to the public. This will now be changed.
On this page I have collected researchers and collectors images of inclusions from various collections, sorted them taxonomic and thereby given you the opportunity to study exactly the inclusions that interests you.
There will be three opportunities to search the database either you can sort it by type of amber, period (all types from that period), and a taxonomic classification.
Thanks to all those who contribute, it has been possible to provide the database its diversity and thereby also its scientific value. Without them this would not be possible. There must sound a special thanks to my colleague, a great photographer and amber collector, Artur Michalski.
I hope you will enjoy the database as much as I have spent time making it. Do you want to contribute to the database, so please do not hesitate to contact me. What is knowledge, research and science worth if it is not shared.
Best regards, Anders L. Damgaard
There is a big problem with books, and first it has to be said that I personally love books, but the problem is that the knowledge found in books are available only for the person who has it. This is a truism, but it creates a problem for all those who do not have the money for expensive books or access to buy the book. This website has not the direct target to supersede the books, on the other hand, the goal is to do everything what is in the books available to everyone. An ambitious goal - almost unattainable goal - but the knowledge and opportunity for education must be accessible to everyone and you should be more than welcome to take part in this project. Write to me if you have ideas for improvements or additions to this website. You can contact me direktly here
